Crêt
de la Neuve in early December 2006
Winter
2006-2007 spent waiting around for winter
Early
December 2006 -- a brief early snowfall, and hopes are rising for a snowshoey
winter. We're walking out to the Crêt de la Neuve today, no artificial aids
needed yet, just some nice Gore-Tex boots from the thrift store and a trekking
pole, but it looked briefly like a good start to the winter.
New
snow, 10 December 2006, leaving from the Col du Marchairuz
Coming
up onto the meadows, a couple of hours later, not far from the Crêt de la
Neuve
The
observation deck at Crêt de la Neuve late in the day, 10 December 2006
With
the flag on
The
carrefour of hiking paths, including the "Europäischer Fernwanderweg
/ Sentier Européen -- Pyrénées / Jura / Balaton", and
of course the Chemin des Crêtes from Germany through the Jura to the French
Savoie.
The
nominal summit, 1494m altitude.
Weather's
coming in, late in the day
Sacred
and Civic Iconography, side by side.

Chemin des Crêtes heading towards St Cergue

The
observation deck again. As I write this on 28 December 2006, there's no snow up
there now. It All Melted Away!
We're
going down towards the Petit Prés de Rolle now, to make a loop back to
Marchairuz
And
coming back into Marchairuz rather lower down, just at nightfall. 10 December
2006.
